I am a literal constitutionalist. When the First Amendment says that "Congress shall make no law ... abridging the freedom of speech," I take that to quite literally and clearly mean that Congress shall make NO LAW abridging the freedom of speech. I should be able to say anything I want, period, and none of the laws that would make anything I say illegal are valid. (One exception to my literal interpretation is that I take all instances of the word "man" to mean any human being.)
Red light cameras are in violation of the Fourth Amendment. I for one would be profoundly pissed the fuck off if I had to waste my time in court because I was wrongly issued a ticket from one of these cameras. Take a look at the Amendment's text:
"The right of the people to be secure in their persons ... against unreasonable searches ... shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched..."
Continually monitoring an intersection, watching for people to break a law, is clearly a search. And, it is a search without warrant. Who gave an Oath or affirmation describing which intersections shall be continually watched, and what was their probable cause to watch every single citizen who drives through these intersections. They could not possibly have probable cause to believe that every driver intends to run the light.
While I'm ranting about the issues, I would like to say that I'm seriously disappointed that Minneapolis is allowing smoking back into the bars. I hope each and every member of the city council gets cancer and dies.
Really. I do.

Wow. I was dreaming about the Goonies this morning. Basically, just watching scenes from the movie in my sleep.
Then I get up, turn on the TV, look through the guide... Goonies is on. It's synced up chronologically with where I was in my dream.
Either I'm psychic, or humans are capable of subconcious super-hearing and one of my neighbors was watching it while I was sleeping.

CHICAGO!
You scored 51% Style, 21% Climate, and 64% Culture!

You are Chicago, Illinois. Chicago is the largest city in Illinois and the seat of Cook County. It stretches for 22 mi along the southwest shore of Lake Michigan in the northeast part of the state. The name Chicago is thought to come from an Algonquian word meaning "onion" or "skunk." Today, Chicago is a major Great Lakes port and the commercial, financial, industrial, and cultural center of the Midwest. The manufacturing industries dominate the wholesale and retail trade, and trade in agricultural commodities is important to the economy. The Chicago Board of Trade is the largest agricultural futures market in the world. Among Chicago's many attractions are the Art Institute of Chicago, the Field Museum of Natural History, the Jane Addams-Hull House Museum, Navy Pier, and numerous architectural landmarks such as the Sears Tower and Frank Lloyd Wright's Robie House.
Yeah, that's right...it says 'onion' or 'skunk', but you are definitely neither (and neither is your city). In fact, you are a very stylish person and cultured as well. You probably find that above information interesting because you like to learn things about your surroundings. And what surroundings they are- fast-paced, non-stop, always awake, and full of interesting people. You prefer city-life, and all the stores, restaurants, and arts it has to offer. And you certainly won't let the cold or rain keep you down. You're going to do what you want, when you want, and dammit, you're going to have some fun, too!
My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender:
You scored higher than 81% on Style
You scored higher than 13% on Climate
You scored higher than 73% on Culture
