New tube map, based on travel timesmap key

London's tube map is already super cool. It's extremely functional because it is layed out as a schematic rather than being layed out geographically. It is a marvel of design, and I love it, and it is very usable.

Then this guy comes along and thinks up something super brilliant. Take the tube map, and keep the schematic rather than geographic feel, but have the space between the stations on the map be accurately representative of how long it takes to travel between the stations. That's amazing. I wish I had a map like that when I was in London.

Now all that needs to be done is for the map to be printed on e-paper, and then the lines between the stations stretch and squash in realtime as traffic varies the trip times.

That'd be the awesome.

headline that says something about pulling outGeorge's stupid face

No Iraq pullout without victory... that lends itself to an Onion style news story:

"Bush refuses to pull out of Iraq, gets her pregnant."

Of course then the Republicans would spin it:

"Pulling out doesn't work. She was gonna get pregnant anyway."

salty satire sans subterfuge

So it has come to my attention that President Bob was shocked to see kids drinking during homecoming (GASP!) and he is personally pushing for a crackdown. It would seem that he and Ward 2 City Council member Paul Zerby together have worked to pass this new ordinance on campus that involves placing giant orange signs on properties that hold underage drinking parties. I think both of these people, and every other fuddy duddies in the Marcy Holmes neighborhood, have all forgotten what it is like to be a college student, and surely many of the indulgences that they themselves took part in, surely. Besides the fact that hammering these signs into the frozen tundra of a Minneapolis front yard in January is going to be damn near impossible and highly laughable, I also venture to guess that a great number of these signs are going to go missing. Hell, I wouldn't even be surprised if they ended up re-erected on the front lawn of Paul Zerby's house. Especially considering he penned the ordinance.

I just want everyone to know that the IMDB and the Google search results for the following quote from Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls (the second movie in the Ace Ventura Pet Detective series) is wrong:

Fulton Greenwall: The Great White Bat, of course.
Ace: Corpus Kilochiroptera?

What Ace Ventura actually says is:

Crepuscular Chiroptera?

Cillan Murphy looking a lot like a muppet.

Tell me I'm not the only one who thinks Cillian Murphy looks like that creepy gelfling Jen muppet from the movie The Dark Crystal...

Francis was DJing on Radio K last night. She sounds so cute. Does anyone else notice how excited she gets, and how her voice changes mid-sentence as the excitment builds? It's pretty awesome. Anyway, I witnessed her give birth to a new and fantastic word: "intergalactive." Interactive + Intergalactic = Intergalactive. Brilliant.

Thank you Francis.
