There is this video out there somewhere, shot on the week of June 6 - 12, 2004. A senate committee is interviewing John Ashcroft about torture memos, and threatening to hold him in contempt of congress for refusing to answer their questions. I can't find this video in anything other than real video format. There's an important quote from that video that I think is very relevant today. The quote is from Senator Biden:
"By the way, there's a reason -- I'll conclude by saying there is a reason we sign these treaties. To protect my son in the military. That's why we have these treaties. So when Americans are captured they are not tortured. That's the reason in case anybody forgets it. That's the reason."
Biden was pissed! I'd love to see this video again if anyone has it or can find it in something other than real video format. P.S. Thanks to sith for remembering it was Biden. P.P.S. I love how the CIA is all "we don't torture" and Cheney is all "we can't pass a law making it illegal for the CIA to torture." That makes a whole lotta fucking sense. Besides, whatever happened to the CIA just doing things illegally when it was a matter of national security. Since when did they need legal authority. What's wrong is wrong, and if it is that important that they break the law they should just not get caught. Like the good old days.

You'll never guess who was my eye doctor today! Johnny Cash! I swear. This guy brings me into his room. He doesn't smile. He doesn't ask how I am. He's wearing black shoes, black pants, a black dress shirt, and a black tie. He has carefully cropped black hair and big black glasses. He's clearly getting annoyed with me when I'm explaining to him my situation: I can't wear my contacts anymore because they are driving me nuts, and my glasses have a cracked lens. So, I want to check my prescription before I buy new glasses, and I want to talk about what's going on with my contacts. It's kind of uncomfortable in this office. He seems a bit rusty in general with everything he is doing, like he either really doesn't know what he's doing, or he's Steve Martin playing the dentist in Little Shop of Horrors.

Radio K was doing their All Request Hour live from the Whole Music Club today. It is really fucking cool to see these two University of Minnesota institutions finally playing nice together. It's the kind of relationship where only both can benefit. I'm not going to get anything done from Noon to 1:00 Fridays ever again.
Anyway, I digress from the funny... Here's Ron Miller on the mic right before he transfered from the studio to the Whole: "I'm going to push the Big Red Button now in the studio, which will either launch all the missiles on the North American Contintent, or it will send control over to the Whole."
He said Big Red Button!!!!!!!!!!!!!11!!1eleven!!!1111!
