It was nice and sun shiney today so I went down to the stone arch bridge, since it'd been awhile. They are turning the ruins into a park, and the safe, sanitary metal boardwalk is almost finished... suck. I sat down there under the bridge by the river reading Chuck P's Lullaby. So far so great. They were setting up this private tent party right in the middle of the bridge in everybody's way. Not sure what the fuck that's all about. I went down by the river on the other bank like I usually do, but the madmade waterfall was turned off. On the bright side, that meant the little streams were dry and I could walk out into them. On my way back up the wooden stairs I passed a mother and daughter. Her 12-year-old daughter was wearing a shirt that said, 'DESPERATE.' Tramp. I stopped at Surdyk's to replenish my supply of Jameson... did you know that they make antimicrobial checkout line pens? Well, they do, and Surdyk's has them. Finally, on the way back to Whittier I spotted a double-decker bus (right hand drive even!) on 1st and 23rd parked outside that mansion.

How is a double decker bus (right hand drive) even possible in Whittier? (also, I was telling my new scottish friends about whittier but the one guy heard "wittier" and it made me laugh. URL?)
Heh, I still haven't internalized how people drive on the left side of the road here, and I saw a bus going down the street last night and my first thought was, "Weird. Why is that bus going so fast in reverse?"
