evidenceAt work tonight I came across a rather interesting message on the cardboard box that the Cub brand long grain white rice comes in. On the top of the box it warns: "This is a raw agricultural product and should be washed and picked over before cooking." That seemed reasonable enough. For whatever reason, probably because I wanted to be doing anything but actually working, I flipped over a bag of the rice to look for a similar message to the consumer (since the consumer doesn't see the card board box). BUT, on the back of the bag of rice it says, "To retain vitamins, do not rinse before or drain after cooking." It says that in ALL CAPS and in red. So the box explicitly tells me the grocer to wash the rice before I eat it, but the consumer is explicitly told to not wash the same rice. Being the person that I am, I naturally took the box home with me and bought a bag of rice so that I could show you all first hand. Click the little composite image there to see the full size original. Impossible instructions, indeed. Ridiculous rice requirements. Ok, I'll stop.

You are a broccoli... that's the produce department, not grocery. I can't help you.
